Setting up a class in SpanishDict Classrooms

This article outlines how to set up classes in the SpanishDict Classrooms feature, independent from other learning management systems. If you use Google Classroom at your school and would like to add your classes from Google Classroom to SpanishDict, please see this article: Linking a Google Classroom account to SpanishDict

The SpanishDict Classrooms feature allows you to assign vocabulary quizzes and grammar lessons to students and track their progress on the assignments. To get started, navigate to SpanishDict.com on a desktop or laptop computer, click the three dots in the menu at the top of the page, and select Classrooms.

Then click the blue "Get Started" button.

A box will pop up that gives you multiple ways to create a new (free) account. If you already have a SpanishDict account, click the "Log in" link in the bottom right and proceed to log into your account.

If you do not have one of these social options connected to your email, click the X to close the box, click "Sign up" in the top right corner of the page, and then proceed to create an account with your email address and a password.

If you already have an account, scroll down a bit in this article to the class set-up instructions.

Next, you'll be asked to select the language that you teach.

You'll then be asked how you would like to set up a class, and you can choose from either linking Google Classroom to SpanishDict or creating the class directly on SpanishDict. If you want to use Google Classroom, see this article for instructions: Linking a Google Classroom account to SpanishDict

When you select "Create on SpanishDict", you'll need to type in the name of the class and click the blue arrow button at the far right end of the text box.

You will then see a page with different options for inviting students. You can copy and share the link to the class with your students, click the option to share on Remind, or tell students to navigate to https://spanishdict.com/join and enter the class code that you see.

Even if you're not ready to send the link/code to students, you can click the "Continue" button, which will route you to the page for the class you just created. When the "Assignments" tab on the left is selected, you will see a "Create assignment" button. You can click that to get started assigning grammar and vocabulary assignments.
