Make a Vocabulary List on the Website

There are two ways that you can make new vocabulary lists and add words to your lists.

From a Dictionary Entry

When you're viewing a dictionary entry on SpanishDictionary.com, you can click on the "Add to list" button in the top right corner of the entry to save the word to a vocabulary list.

If you are not currently signed into a free SpanishDictionary.com account, clicking the "Add to list" button will redirect you to the main Vocabulary page, where you can click "Get Started Now" and either create a free account or sign into an existing one.

If you are already signed into the site with your free account, the "Add to list" button will bring up a box that gives you the option to create a new list, or, if you already have some lists started, you can add the word to an existing list.

After selecting the list that you want to use (or creating a new one), you will be asked to choose a translation for the word.

Once the word is saved, you'll see a blue confirmation box at the bottom of the page that will disappear after a few seconds.

From the Vocabulary Page

You can also create a list by clicking the word "Vocabulary" at the top of the page, followed by "Create new list". On mobile devices, you'll need to open the menu in the top right corner of the screen and then select "Vocabulary", followed by "Create new list".

You will be asked how you want to make the list. You can either choose words from our dictionary or import a list from a document.

For help with importing words, see this article: Import Vocabulary from a Document

If you selected "Choose words", you'll then see the list page. Your list will be given a name automatically, which you can change by clicking on the name of the list, typing the new name, and then clicking somewhere else on the page to save it. If you want to change the icon (illustration) that was assigned to the list, hover your mouse over it, click the pencil that appears, and then click on the icon you want to use.

You will see a search box that says "Add new word". Click in that box and then type a Spanish or English word or phrase.

After you start typing, select the word or phrase that you want.

Then select the translation that you would like to practice.

You can repeat that process to add more words to your list.

Accessing a Vocabulary List

Once you get a list started, you can find the list by clicking "Vocabulary" in the menu at the top of the page (may need to click the three dots to find it) or in the menu of the mobile website. When you first open the Vocabulary feature, you'll see a section at the top called "My Lists". All of the lists that you create, as well as any other lists made by SpanishDictionary.com or other users that you have followed, will appear in this section for easy access.

If you don't see the name of the list that you want in the initial view, you can click on the little number with an arrow to the right of "My Lists" to find all of your personal lists.

Once you find the list that you want, you can click on its name to start the practice quiz.
